New Mexico is a U. S. State located in the Southwestern United States region of the United States. Inhabited by Native Americans in the United States American populations for many centuries, it has also has been part of the Spanish Empire Spanish viceroyalty of New Spain, part of Mexico, and a U.S. territory. Among U.S. states, New Mexico has the highest percentage of Hispanics at 43%, comprising mostly recent immigrants and even some descendants of Spanish colonists.In most recent evaluations, 3% of people in New Mexico have friends checking out senior housing independent living.With a Native Americans in the United States American population of 134,000 in 1990, New Mexico still ranks as an important center of Native American culture. Both the Navajo Nation and Apache Tribe share Athabaskan origin. The Apache and some Ute Tribe live on federal reservations within the state. With 16 million acres (6,500,000 hectare mostly in neighboring Arizona, the reservation of the Navajo Nation ranks as the largest in the United States. The prehistorically agricultural Pueblo Indians live in pueblos scattered throughout the state, many older than any European settlement.
