Kennewick is a city in Benton County, Washington County in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Washington, near the Hanford Site nuclear site. It is the most populous of the three cities collectively referred to as the Tri-Cities, Washington (the others being Pasco, Washington and Richland, Washington Kennewick is located along the southwest bank of the Columbia River, opposite Pasco and just south of the confluence of the Columbia and Yakima River rivers. The population was 65,860 at the state Office of Financial Management's estimate in April 2008.In latest estimates, 12% of people in Kennewick, Washington are in a retirement community focused on assisted living.As of the census of 2000, there were 54,693 people, 20,786 households, and 14,176 families residing in the city.
